Where in the World is Mabrick

[caption id="" align="aligncenter" width="1536" caption="The first night I was here, there was an inexplicable county wide power outage. "]image[/caption]

Let's play a little game. I'll post a picture and write a few words, and you try and guess where I am. This may be really easy or difficult. I've never tried this before. Be specific. The perfect answer is latitude and longitude within 10 meters. 1 I've provided the first picture above. The caption is the clue. Comment approval will be delayed. Go!

  2. and judging by the photo in the following review, you're very close to or actually in 434: http://www.tripadvisor.com/ShowUserReviews-g60616-d209324-r168355390-Lae_Nani-Kapaa_Kauai_Hawaii.html/BackUrl#UR168355390

  3. Geo tagging for the win! Or perhaps you hunted me down another way? Regardless you nailed it, all the way to the room. I am happy to report almost all the issues from 2013 have been corrected. There has been a change of ownership since then. The screen is in correctly. The mattress is firm. New paint has been applied. The carpet is clean. One bathroom fan is stuck and only whines when turned on but it's a marine environment and salt happens. This is not a 5 star condo and we still have to clean up after ourselves but we are here like 3 hours a day max. We took the money we saved and upgraded our car rental to an SUV that can handle the jungle roads inland. THAT was a good move. Thanks for participating. Cheers from Kuau'i!

  4. I didn't even think of geotagging! The hint said county, so that put you in the U.S. (or maybe an old English colonial holding). Palm trees only grow in a few places so I added Hawaii to the search along with December and county wide outage. Boom. Kauai. Over to google maps to look for resorts. There were a few, but in your picture there are some black rocks that appeared to be in a ring formation. So, turn on satellite view and voila. Drew a mental line from the rocks to where the photo was taken. Then for fun I searched the hotel name and pictures. Bingo. Yay Google! (or maybe, shudder, omg the power of Google).

    Enjoy your holiday!

Be civil, be responsible and most of all be kind. I will not tolerate poor form. There will be no James Hooks here. We are all better than that.
