Challenge Accepted

Back when I was doing my reddit research, I linked my post It Will Be a Long Winter (yeah, yeah, no self-promotion - meh.) The first comment on it was this one.
"[–]ibuprofanity 8 points 25 days ago
i still don't know whether you are a troll or actually serious about the things you write.
if the latter, maybe you should try nullsec before pretending to know anything about it. just want to help you out bro."
Okay, have it your way mister I-don't-know-what-the-caps-lock-key-is-for ibuprofanity. No bullshit. No propaganda. No more carebearish paranoia. No 'Goonswarm is evil' mongering. I'm moving to null-sec just to give it a try.

That's right, I 'M MOVING TO NULL-SEC. Should I say it louder? Nevermind and whatever. I've been a little busy with the move tonight after a 13 hour work day and am too tired to pontificate. There will of course be more details later. Phase three began tonight; it should be an interesting ride.

  1. NPC nullsec or sov nullsec? I hope it is the latter. What alliance are you joining?

    1. It is sov null-sec. The alliance I am going with will become evident shortly. There was a lot of activity on the alliance frount last night. I think anyone who pays attention to kill boards will be able to figure it out. ;-)

    2. Correction: it could be sov OR NPC null-sec: capsuleer's choice. I've not decided personally which I'll go for. I'll probably start in NPC null-sec and work my way out so to speak.

    1. Local is going to take some getting used to again. I'm not quite there yet. It doesn't exactly feel like a cheat - it's more like insider trading... Oh wait, that's cheating isn't it?

  3. Please Mabrick,

Wherever you go, for love love of god. Don't let it be the CFC. Look how low Poetic Stanziel sank after he joined them. Now the poor guy just shills for Mittens.

Good luck anyway, no doubt you have already made the arrangements. But you'd be most welcome here in Providence.

    1. No bashing other bloggers/commenters on the my blog mister anonymous! If yo want to bash someone, bash me. That's what I'm here for. Poetic did what Poetic had to do. Frankly, I don't blame him. Look at how much he gets syndicated now. Do you think that doesn't come with benefits? Poetic strikes me as a business sort of person, so I've no issues with where he's gone. I only take issue with some of his perspectives. ;-)

As for your implied question, hell no it's not CFC.

    2. Well, I look forward to reading about the next chapter in your adventures.

  4. I find it hard to believe that you were trolled/persuaded to go to null sec. Null is a joke, pretty much like the rest of the game. ISK to be made in null is comical at best, unless you're the person who owns a bunch of R64 moons and has brainless F1 monkeys fighting for your passive income, and lolz SRP.

Rank and file members of an alliance are usually space poor and that is by choice. They choose to form up for 'defense fleets', gate camps, etc. Ratting is not a good way to make ISK, and those that do participate in that activity usually dock up the moment a neutral enters the system.

PvP in null (and the game in general) is a massive joke. Blob warfare, and Ganks, and gate camps != pvp skills (and hardly equals pvp). Playing at 10% TiDi is not a fun experience. In a point and click MMO that has player skills that are based on 'skill points' and not actual human skill; it's kind of hard to imagine anyone having any type of 'elite' pvp skills.

I could go on and on but I'm sure you get the point....

    1. I think the issue wasn't really experiencing null-sec, but rather being able to write about it authoritatively. Currently if I write something about high-sec carebearing people feel I know what I'm writing about. Now if I write something about wormholes people know I've lived there a year in two different levels of wormhole, so again I know my subject. If I write anything right now concerning null-sec everyone who disagrees, even if I have a valid point, just says I don't know what I'm talking about and that's the end of it. I have no expertise to counter that argument. This will shore up that hole in Mabrick's experience and deny them the outright dismissal. That's what this is about, not trolls. He was just a good way to broach the subject and throw out a neener, neener. I'm not too proud to raspberry in public.

Be civil, be responsible and most of all be kind. I will not tolerate poor form. There will be no James Hooks here. We are all better than that.
